The Chocolate Project: Lesson plans for grades 1-12 on CRS Fair Trade and Catholic Social Teaching.

This Food Fast activity from past years has two parts: the first part is a role-playing activity in which participants take on one of the three main roles within the making of a chocolate bar; the second part briefly explains fair trade and how it applies to the chocolate industry.

Have you ever been to a coffee house event on your campus? You know…music, poetry, bad comedy, etc… Why not hold a similar event, plus help educate your community about Fair Trade at the same time? Well here it is, the CRS Fair Trade Coffee House. It’s one of the few places where you can both hear your favorite Bon Jovi covers, and serve small-scale farmers around the world!

A youth based faith formation activity to be used in catechetical, school or family settings as an Advent season parish-giving tree. Provides an activity based opportunity to reflect on how Christ was born into poverty and how that relates to the reality of many other families around the world today through; group discussion, prayer, education, and giving tree assembly.

An add on resource created for communities who already do a giving tree. Comes with sample announcement(s) and photo ornament cutouts.

This leadership retreat experience is designed to help high school students learn the principles of Catholic social teaching, how the fair trade model works, and how fair trade practices embody CST principles, particularly the principles of solidarity and the preferential option for the poor.

Participants will play a life-sized game and will be faced with situations and decisions coffee producers deal with every day. Players will experience states of poverty and oppression, and learn about fair trade standards.

This activity is designed to help participants identify the challenges faced by small-scale producers around the world by inviting them to act out a series of trading simulations.
