Climate Change
“Our Creator has given us the gift of creation: The air we breathe, the water that sustains life, the fruits of the land that nourish us, and the entire web of life without which human life cannot flourish.”

The questions of whether or why the earth’s climate is changing can be cause for debate and disagreement. However, in our work in almost 100 countries, Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and our partners are currently witnessing new environmental realities in Africa, Asia and Latin America. We believe it is important to share stories of how the environment is impacting the poor to help U.S. Catholic individuals and institutions discern their responses.
New strategies are being used by many farmers to adapt to climate change and increase income for their family. What changes might we as consumers make in our daily lives with regards to the environment?
Many of us are already committed to brewing Fair Trade coffee and giving Fair Trade as ways of shifting our dollars to companies and products that offer fair and dignified partnerships with farmers. What if we made other economic decisions to promote environmental justice?
