Nicaraguan Coffee Farmers in California, Part 2

Armando, Adrian and Immer — the three members of the Aroma del Cafe cooperative that CRS supports in Nicaragua — arrived in California this afternoon! Here they are after dining on familiar cuisine on their first night in the United States.

This is their first visit, and they spent most of today just taking things in. They have been particularly impressed so far by the traffic and racial diversity (lots of it), prices (high) and climate (pleasant). We have been answering all of their many questions as they prepare to participate in a forum for coffee producers sponsored by TransFair USA (May 3) and the annual conference of the Specialty Coffee Association of America (May 4-7). Beginning next week, YOU can ask THEM questions — about coffee, organic farming, Fair Trade, life in Nicaragua, or anything else — during their Southern California speaking tour.
